GA House Resolution #928

Many thanks to the 2022 Georgia House of Representatives Democrats: Donna T. McLeod, Jasmine Clark, Dewey McClain, Samuel Park, Shelly Hutchinson and Beth Moore for this honor. Georgia House Resolution #928 was presented to Dr. Fisher at the Gwinnett Justice & Administration Center (GJAC), April 20, 2022.

Women’s Equality Day

The National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW), the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women (GFDW), and the Gwinnett Democratic Women (GDW) celebrated Women’s Equality Day, on Saturday, August 26, 2023. GDW “understood the assignment” and members posted the NFDW flyer and heartfelt personal messages of support on social media platforms including Facebook and the GDW website.

GDW also celebrated the ERA in April 2023 and that original GDW campaign effort shared with Georgia sections across the state echoed and reflected the ideals and goals behind Women’s Equality Day.

National Voter Registration Day

GDW promoted National Voter Registration Day, Tuesday, September 19, 2023. GDW members shared the National Voter Registration Day 2023 flyer across social media platforms, and simultaneously promoted the GDW Virtual Community Conversation planned for September 26th, which focused on educating the community about the importance of voting locally, statewide and nationally.

Shades of Blue GDW Retreat

The September 2, 2023 Shades of Blue GDW Retreat honored Gwinnett Democratic Women (GDW) members. GDW officers, leaders, chairs, and members have helped to shine a bright spotlight on the power and significance of active political engagement by women in Gwinnett County, GA through voting, voter education, and helping to identify and elect hard working Democratic Party candidates and incumbents. Gwinnett County’s people come first.
GDW was thrilled that Mrs. June Krise, the newly elected NFDW President of the National Federation of Democratic Women, was the special guest speaker. 

A Converstation with Gwinnett County Sheriff

THE GDW EXECUTIVE TEAM PLANNED A VIRTUAL CONVERSATION WITH GWINNETT COUNTY GEORGIA’S FIRST BLACK SHERIFF, KEYBO TAYLOR. SHERIFF TAYLOR SPOKE ELOQUENTLY TO MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC ABOUT CONTINUING TO BUILD TRUST, CONFIDENCE, AND COMMUNITY. SHERIFF TAYLOR STATEGICALLY SET THE TONE WITH A FOCUS ON EDUCATING AND INFORMING THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE IMPACT OF DIVERSE LOCAL LEADERSHIP, AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF REPRESENTATION, IN GOVERNMENT. THIS EVENT INCLUDED FIVE (5) MUNICIPAL CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR OFFICE IN GWINNETT COUNTY, GA AHEAD OF NOV 7, 2023 ELECTION DAY.  SEPTEMBER 26, 2023.
