Beauties, barbers, & Ballots initiative

Beauty Shops, Barber Shops, and a variety of small businesses are selected by GDW to visit and then help people do a quick check of their voter registration status online! The response to this face-to-face voter education initiative in the Gwinnett business community has been incredibly positive! (Mall 2, September 7, 2024)
To date, GDW members have already helped check and/or update the voter registrations of 100+ Gwinnett County residents, as well as helped 5 people register who are new Gwinnett County residents! (Mall 3, September 14, 2024).
The GDW QR Code created for our BBBI mall canvassing events gives quick and easy access to the Georgia My Voter Page. Go to www.mvp.sos.ga.gov and check your status TODAY! (Mall 3, September 14, 2024).
GDW Voter Education targets small businesses this fall! Our “Beauties, Barbers & Ballots” (BBBI) initiative asks business owners and their clients, at beauty shops and barber shops across Gwinnett County, GA to check their GA voter registration status online. (Mall 1, August 31, 2024)
Helping people check, correct, or update their GA voter registration status online ahead of the October 7, 2024 deadline to vote in the general election this November is the goal. We are “small mall” canvassing!!! (Mall 1, August 31, 2024).
GDW helped Fifty-six (56) check/re-confirm their GA Voter Registration Status on September 28, 2024. Business owners and patrons at the beauty salons and barber shops in this mall were excited to see us!
his was the final BBBI f2f activity. The following verbiage can accompany this photo: “The October 5, 2024 BBBI gave GDW the opportunity to check sixty-nine (69) registrations, and register a brand-new GA voter!
Our bodies belong to us, not to men. Anything less is injustice and oppression.  Everything comes right back to equal protection under the law. And in this moment, right now, we are no longer equal. VOTE!
